Mon Panache exists so that words reach the people they were written for. That only works if you can trust us with those words. This page explains, plainly, what we store and why.
Your letters
The letters you write are stored in our database so you can return to them, seal them, and share them. While a letter is still a draft, it is kept as plain text so you can keep editing it. When you seal a letter with a password, we encrypt it on our servers with that password and then keep only the encrypted text — once sealed, its verses cannot be read again without the password. Letters sealed without a password are stored as written. We never sell your letters or analyze them for advertising. If the emotional-palette feature is enabled, a letter's words are sent once, as you seal it, to our AI provider to derive the colors and motion it wears, and for nothing else.
Reading a letter
When a recipient opens a shared letter, we record that the letter was opened, when, and how far it was read. The sender can see this. A discreet notice on the letter's cover tells every reader that reading is shared with the sender. We do not record who the reader is, their name, or their location.
Your account
To sign you in we store your email address and, if you use Google, the name and email Google provides. Magic-link tokens expire after use. We use session cookies strictly to keep you signed in; there are no advertising or analytics cookies.
Retention
Letters remain until you delete them or delete your account. A letter's reading records are kept for as long as the letter itself; deleting a letter removes its reading records with it, and deleting your account removes everything at once.
Deleting your account, taking your words with you
In the atelier you can export all of your letters and their reading records as a file, and you can delete your account. Deletion is immediate and permanently removes your letters, reading records, and sign-in data.
